Bump It

Another one of my "10 second throw something together so  I look decent enough to leave the house because I'm not in the mood to actually do my hair" styles.  That basically sums up what this was.  It did literally take 10 seconds and I didn't even intend to do this hairstyle, I was just looking at what I had to work with: hair that really needed to be washed, an old twist out that was just really frizzy and no longer had any definition that pretty much insisted on sticking straight up and I realized I look a little bit like Don King and I definitely can't leave the house looking this!  Next thing I knew I was "puffing" and twirling and tucking and then I said, wow, I actually look half decent.  And voila! :)
I call this hairstyle "Bump It" which seems quite fitting.

Hairstyles: French Roll Sideswept Updo

Here is a new hairstyle that I came up with for work and can also be worn for formal or semi-formal events for a polished look.  You will need loose, stretched hair for this that is at least between short and mid-length.  You will need many bobby pins and some kind of styling cream.  I prefer not to use gel as my styles are usual soft and loose but you can do this same style with gel for a firmer, tighter and more slicked back look.

The pictures are pretty self explanatory but I basically sectioned off a bang at the front for my sidesweep.  I pulled the rest of the hair back and starting at the nape, rolled and tucked the hair and secured with bobby pins.  At the top, I pulled down the loose hair and tucked it under with bobby pins.  I smoothed the edges and secured the loose pieces with bobby pins.  Then I swept the bangs to the side and secured with bobby pins.

FYI, for those of you who didn't know I have a youtube channel that I haven't posted on in a very long time.  Just one of those things that went by the way side.  Anyway, I've had a recent surge of people who subscribed and that made me feel like maybe I should put some work into maintaining it.  This hairstyle is one of the videos I plan to do as a tutorial so stay updated for those.  I will post the vids and/or links on this blog as well.  For now, I hope the photos are enough.  Thanks for being patient with me! :)

Giant Goddess Bun hairstyle: How To

Pull hair into a puff in the back.  Separate hair at center of puff so hair is all around in a circle.  Start at top with the loose hair and make a large circular flat twist (rolling inward and grabbing more hair as you go until hair is twisted all around) Tuck loose areas and secure with bobby pins.  Tuck the end and secure with bobby pins.  Use headband of your choice to slick hair back and hold in place... and voila!

The back doesn't look perfect, I did this in a hurry on hair that was not detangled but you get the idea.  Good luck!
